I’m guessing you are here to learn how to cook and live the paleo life. I’m sure there is a specific reason why you follow or want to follow a paleo lifestyle. I could be you want to lose weight, you have food allergies or intolerances, you have medical reasons, or you just want to (it’s okay, you don’t have to have a reason).
Whatever brought you here, WELCOME! I help everyday people learn how to cook and live the paleo lifestyle. I might throw in some sustainable food reasons from time to time too.
I was the kid who took cooking classes in high school because it would be an easy A and I would get to do something I loved. I’ve always loved to cook. Some of my fondest memories growing up are being in the kitchen with either my mother, father (he taught me how to make pie crust), and my grandmother. As an adult I’ve taken my grandmother’s chili and made it into my own.
When I was laid off from my job in 2011 I was devastated until I realized I would have time to experiment with recipes I never had time for before. I would have the Food Network on all the time. Then with social media I would post pictures and people started asking me for cooking advice.
I never found another job, so after two years I just gave up and changed careers. I started working in food service.
At the same time, though, I started getting sick. After 1 1/2 years of feeling miserable I was diagnosed with Chronic Hypothyroidism (Hashimoto’s disease) and about 6 months later I found out headaches I had been getting were from a herniated disc, 2 bulging discs, degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, and spinal arthritis in my neck.
All of that had me on a lot of medication and I decided to take my life back through diet. After A LOT of research I discovered the paleo lifestyle helped a lot with inflammation and hormone imbalances, my 2 main struggles. I’ve been living paleo for 2 years now. Do I have days I just want a good slice of pizza? Yes (especially since there is a pizza place downstairs from my apartment). Was it a struggle in the beginning? Oh, heck yeah.
If I can you do it, so can you! I will be here to hold virtually hold your hand.
